The “Summer House” cast’s alien party is going strong and Lindsay Hubbard just told Carl Radke that he’s not ambitious enough for her to want to jump his bones. His silver hair even looks disheartened.
This time, her delivery is nice enough that the talk doesn’t end up in a fight and she asks him for a boost so that she can rejoin the party and drink.
Inside, Danielle Olivera asks Gabby Prescod how her “mojo” is, aka, “Are you picking up guys left and right like I am?” Gabby gets defensive and says, “I don’t know why everyone thinks I’m incapable of this. I’m good.”
Danielle responds, “You are, actually. Because you’re so closed off to the opportunity or like, the chance of … ” Then, Gabby responds, “To f*ck somebody???” Danielle points out that Gabby is nitpicky when it comes to guys and asks her if she thinks anyone at the party is hot.
Gabby says she likes Joe the Balloon Guy, to which Danielle tells her, “Yeah, but I’m also laying that groundwork too.” Way to be a good wingwoman.
Gabby Prescod has a meltdown
Gabby has had it with Danielle and vents to Paige DeSorbo and Amanda Batula. “Danielle just sat me down and was like, ‘You’re self-sabotaging.’ I was like, first of all, having standards isn’t self-sabotaging.” Amanda replies, “Danielle has a lot of opinions on other people’s relationships.”
Danielle comes in at that moment and Gabby walks out. Paige tells Danielle why Gabby is upset at her. “She just didn’t want to hear it tonight,” Danielle says, defensively. Paige tries to explain how Danielle can come across sometimes but she’s just not getting it.
This is when Gabby starts to cry hysterically. “I feel like I cannot take it anymore. Everyone’s like, ‘What’s wrong with you?'” she tells Amanda. Basically, she feels pressured by everyone to go flirt with guys and it’s making her hyperventilate.
“You are not the problem. And I’m so sorry that people have made you feel that way, myself included,” Amanda tells her.
In the bedroom, Paige is trying to get through to Danielle that her delivery is horrible. She tells Danielle that Gabby is crying in the bathroom and advises her to talk to her friend. “No, that’s silly. That’s dumb,” Danielle says because her mind is on Joe the Balloon Guy.
Danielle doesn’t want to comfort Gabby so Paige checks on her. Amanda tries to talk to Danielle, but she gets the hand as her “Summer House” castmate walks away because she’s obviously not important enough to have a conversation with.
Danielle Olivera gets Joe the Balloon Guy
As Gabby is sobbing inside, Danielle is sinking her claws into Joe the Balloon Guy. They awkwardly kiss each other’s cheeks, which leads to a makeout session. Everyone leaves and Danielle tells him that they can do anything they want.
“I love you, Gabby, but you snooze you lose,” Danielle says in a confessional. She and Joe go upstairs to presumably make balloon animals.
The next morning, Joe does the walk of shame and tells Danielle that he’s going to text her. Kyle Cooke asks Paige and Amanda if they’re going to Montauk and they both say, “No,” because they don’t want to hang out with Danielle.
Danielle talks to Gabby about their little spat the night before. “I want to give you like, the biggest hug,” she says, which is the opposite of what she felt prior. “I mean, they told me that I made you cry.”
Gabby tells Danielle that she’s coming from a good place but says, “I mean, I get it, but yesterday was too much from everybody. I feel like our conversation was just like, it went left in a way that I felt very, like, judged.”
“I never want you to feel that I’m judging you,” Danielle says, even though she judged her the night before. They hug and make up.
Carl Radke vents to Kyle Cooke about Lindsay Hubbard
Kyle asks Carl how things are going with Lindsay re the job situation and he says, “She’s like really worried that I don’t have like, a job … It’s a turn-on for her if I have like, a hustle and a passion and I’m like, I feel like I’ve been hustling and I have things going on.”
“Like, what have you done? Like, seriously, what are you doing? Her business is deactivated,” Carl tells Kyle. He mentions that her being an influencer is “not a career,” even though she brought in $150,000 so far that year. He made a paltry $70,000 because he’s “not a woman” and therefore can’t get as many sponsorships. Boo hoo.
Carl tells Kyle that Lindsay wants to be a stay-at-home mom, which is apparently going to be a hindrance to their income.
“The way I’ve known Linday is this independent, career, badass woman. Now, it sounds like she just wants to be a stay-at-home mom and raise the family, and that’s amazing. But, I don’t have the wallet right now to support a family … It’s a lot of pressure for me,” Carl says in a confessional.
To be fair, if you ask Carl to choose between a ham and turkey sandwich, he will break out in hives so it’s not fair for Lindsay to ask him to step up and be the breadwinner so that she can breastfeed their babies.
Amanda Batula wants to create a swimwear line for big boobies
After Danielle walked out on Amanda, she feels insignificant. While meeting Paige and Ciara in a totally unsponsored meeting at Old Navy in New York City, Amanda asks them if people take her seriously. Paige is like, “No.”
“Nobody gives you any credit, Amanda, for your creativity and being so smart and you’re emotionally intelligent,” Paige says while they look at mass-produced clothing. She gives Amanda props for funding her and Kyle’s lives while he spent all his money on Loverboy.
Paige and Ciara hype Amanda up and tell her that she can do anything. Amanda says, “I’ve always thought about doing swimsuits because having like, bigger boobs and having to find the brands I feel actually fit … ”
“I think you would be great at it,” Paige tells Amanda. This feels like a manufactured storyline where next season, Amanda wants to leave Loverboy to launch her own swimwear line and it’ll create problems between her and Kyle. You hear it here first.
Carl Radke’s family tells him he’s not ready to get married
Carl visits his mom Sharon and stepdad Lou in New Jersey. He vents to them about Lindsay and his upcoming marriage. He’s a bit nervous about starting a family with her and says that while alcohol isn’t a problem with him, he doesn’t like certain behaviors around it.
“I want her to have a healthy relationship with alcohol. But it’s not all about alcohol. It’s not. Like, she’s not this monster. I don’t like, wake up in the middle of the night and catch her pouring vodka into a cup,” Carl tells them.
He tells Sharon that it’s not really the drinking, it’s that they have trouble communicating with each other. “Well, do you live in fear of that?” Lou asks.
“If there’s been some drinking and I can sense she’s a little upset, absolutely, I will be like, okay, like, just read a little lightly here,” Carl says.
Lou gets real because he’s a pastor and has dealt with this stuff. He brings up the past Memorial Day weekend when apparently, Carl and Lindsay had a fight and he was upset. “That almost appeared to be abusive,” Lou says. “That’s a strong word, I know, but you were really affected.”
“If the relationship you have, you’re fearful and it’s not working the way you want it to work, getting married isn’t going to solve that,” Lou advises.
Carl questions if he’s the right person for Lindsay and Lou points out that those thoughts are not a healthy barometer for a marriage. He echoes Paige’s advice to Amanda that it’s much easier to end an engagement than a marriage. It looks like Carl ends up listening to Lou.
