Fans of “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” have been waiting for Season 5 to drop for a long time. After sexual harassment allegations against bosun Gary King last year by a production staff, it wasn’t clear what his fate would be.
It turns out that Gary has returned for Season 5 of “Below Deck Sailing Yacht,” along with chief stew Daisy Kelliher. Notably missing is Colin Macrae, who has been the engineer on Parsifal III but is absent after his relationship drama with Daisy last season.
This season’s new faces include chef Cloyce Martin, chief engineer Davide Morosi, and deckhands Keith Allen and Emma Crouch. The two new stews are Diana Cruz and Danni Martin.
Gary and Daisy arrive first and there’s still tension between them from last season. Flashback to Gary coming in between Daisy and Colin’s relationship during Season 4.
“I don’t know what way he’s going to behave this season,” Daisy tells the cameras. “I’m not looking forward to having to work with him again.”
Ain’t nobody humpin’ around — yet
Captain Glenn Shephard calls a preference sheet meeting and the very first charter guests are Atlanta-based couple Dr. Contessa and Dr. Scott. They requested a surf and turf dinner and a leather and lace party on the first night.
One of the guests doesn’t eat pork or beef and another is allergic to shellfish. “I just hope that you know, he lives,” Cloyce says. Daisy looks alarmed.
Apparently, one of the guests named Hakim is the nephew of Bobby Brown, so Glenn calls them high-profile guests and wants them to get extra special treatment. Someone should tell Glenn that Bobby Brown hasn’t been high-profile since the ’90s.
After the crew is finished getting the boat in ship shape, they’re ready to let loose with some drinks. Danni is thirsty and not just for drinks. She’s already coming on strong to Keith and tries to get him to lick her finger.
He politely declines and considering that she’s probably been scrubbing toilets before, that’s a smart decision.
Gary King and Daisy Kelliher kind of make up
Daisy and Gary go out to have a ciggy and hash out their issues. She’s upset at him because after the last season of “Below Deck Sailing Yacht,” Gary just disappeared from her. “I needed a f*cking friend,” she tells him.
“After Colin and I broke up, I felt incredibly low, very lonely, and all I wanted was for you to call me. I needed you,” she says.
Gary tells her that he needed space from her because of all the hurtful things she said to him. Daisy says that she’s not upset that he was hurt or mad. “I’m upset that you ignored me when I was asking to speak to you,” she yells. “You just left me on my own trying to figure it out. You were off with your friends and you were fine. I was just one my own feeling lonelier and lonelier.”
Gary keeps making excuses for his behavior but he does feel bad that Daisy is hurt. He apologizes and they hug it out but Daisy doesn’t know if she can fully trust him moving forward.
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew is fumbling
The guests arrive and they’re all excited to be in Eyebeethuh. Cloyce tells Daisy to ask Mona Lisa, the one who doesn’t eat pork and beef if she would like chicken instead of surf and turf. Hakim is the one who can’t eat shellfish, so Cloyce is preparing snapper for him.
Daisy approaches the guests and mayhem ensues. Some want lamb instead of beef, others want red snapper, and someone wants snapper and lobster so it’s a surf and surf.
This is after Cloyce specifically told Daisy that he doesn’t want to take individual orders if necessary. As Daisy tells Cloyce all the separate orders, his soul leaves his body.
It’s time to plate and Cloyce needs to be precise. He’s calling out the plates to make sure he didn’t miss anything. It turns out that he did and is missing a lamb and lobster dish.
The other guests get their food and one says his steak is well done instead of medium. Cloyce is scrambling to prepare the dishes and Daisy says, “This whole f*cking thing is his fault.” Meanwhile, Glenn is watching everything and heads are about to roll.
