The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” Season 5 cast is back from Milwaukee and a revelation between Lisa Barlow and Bronwyn Newport makes them set aside their feud for now.
While heading back to Salt Lake City, Bronwyn showed Lisa a picture of her daughter Gwen’s late father. Lisa immediately recognized him and it turned out that she knew his family. This information shocked Bronwyn, as she had no contact with his parents since she became pregnant.
“I got pregnant with Gwen when I was 19 turning 20 and her biological father was not involved and then passed away shortly after when she was turning 2,” she tells the cameras.
Bronwyn tells Lisa that when she and her ex told his Mormon parents at the time, they didn’t receive the news well. “They were not supportive, I can say that. But it was a conversation that deeply hurt me.”
She explains that they had told her to go away, have the baby, and then put her up for adoption. Her ex also turned his back on her and left Bronwyn to raise their baby on her own and she hadn’t spoken to him or his family since.
Whitney Rose fills hurt after Lisa Barlow tosses her gift away
Whitney Rose, Heather Gay, and Britani Bateman go snowboarding/skiing and after some shredding on the slopes, Britani tells them that her sometimes boyfriend Jared Osmond surprised her with flowers and a card when she got back from Milwaukee.
He wants to meet up with her and Britani says, “I do feel like he deserves closure.” She regrets letting Lisa text him on her behalf and thinks the messages were a bit too harsh.
Whitney then reveals that Lisa tossed the jewelry that she gifted her in the garbage while in Milwaukee, which she had learned from the hotel owner. “Nooo,” Britani gasps.
When Whitney brings up the rumors about her jewelry being from Alibaba, Heather tells her that Lisa was the one who told her — not Meredith.
This is where Heather is Shady Pines, Ma because Whitney’s fight with Meredith could have been avoided if she had revealed that in the first place. Now, Whitney suspects Lisa was the one who planted the rumor all along. The plot thickens.
Heather Gay stirs the pot
Heather and Lisa go to a salt cave to recharge their bodies with negative ions. While talking about the Milwaukee trip, Heather tells Lisa that she thinks Angie is not being a good friend.
This just validates Lisa, who says, “Thank you, I feel that too.” Heather shares that after the fight at the Harley-Davidson museum, Angie alluded to Lisa being a bad mom. “She was being mean. She said, ‘My daughter needs me. Like, she’s just not in the room playing video games.'”
Flashback to Angie venting to Heather about hanging up the phone with Lisa so that she can spend time with her daughter, and not let her game all night like certain other children.
“Oh wow. She’s talking about my parenting? I’m like a great mom, what is she talking about?” Lisa says. It takes a few more seconds for the information to register and then she’s really mad.
“That’s a f*cking low blow. Like, I am actually really f*cking mad right now,” she cries. Lisa has no idea why Angie is coming for her. Has she forgotten how she treated her friend?
Whitney Drew uncovers the mystery of the Alibaba rumor
Whitney is in the car with her husband Justin Rose when she gets a call from a podcaster named Adam, who tells her that somebody close to her is spreading the Alibaba rumors.
Apparently, he’s friends with the Instagram account that first started the claim that Prism got its designs from Alibaba so Whitney had asked him to do some digging.
Adam tells Whitney that the person couldn’t name names but when he kept digging, all signs pointed to Lisa.
“On the one hand, it’s validating but at the same time I really didn’t want it to be true because it means I have a friendship that potentially was never real in the first place,” she tells the cameras.
Britani Bateman and Jared Osmond break up for the 17th time
Britani meets up with Jared to get some closure. He comes in chewing gum like he’s Danny Zuko even though he’s middle-aged and is wearing a polo.
She asks him why this breakup is different from all their other ones. “You went to Milwaukee and when you left, I thought it was all sunshine and roses. And right before the game, you sent me a little video and you said, ‘Hey, I’ll call you when the game’s over, babe,'” he explains. “Next day rolls around. Ghosted me.”
He continues to tell her that on the second night, he was excited to finally get a FaceTime from her only to realize it was Lisa instead. “And she’s been reading my text messages. What the hell, Brit?” he says.
Britani tells the cameras that Lisa had grabbed her phone that night and started texting Jared mean messages. She then called him and poked fun at him by singing a song about best friends.
“This is what I have a real problem with. Private conversations between people that love each other are private,” Jared rants.
She says that she wants their relationship to be more public instead of feeling like Jared wants to keep her hidden. According to Britani, Jared doesn’t post about her on social media and is still on dating apps. What more does she need to understand that he’s not that into her?
Britani asks him point blank if he’s willing to make her feel safe with him and he gives her a non-answer. “I’ve shown up every day for you Britani and that’s not enough. I’ve given you everything I can.”
“So that’s a no,” she says. Girl, needs to just get up and leave so he can see her walk out. However, she just sits there to have him tell her, “Let’s just put a pin in it.”
Bronwyn Newport and her daughter have a hard talk
Britani has told her daughter Gwen about Lisa’s connection to her late ex’s family. She tells Gwen that her grandparents said they were excited to meet her.
Gwen is doubtful because they had never reached out to her in her 17 years and left Bronwyn to raise her by herself as a 19-year-old. She also feels that they were a bit cold during their conversation and twisted things around to make it seem like Gwen was the one who didn’t want to reach out to them all these years.
“They didn’t seem like, excited, or like ready to take the opportunity. It was kind of like, ‘Well, I guess we will meet you,'” she says. “It wasn’t very loving, I feel like,” she explains.
Bronwyn tells her daughter that she understands how she feels and looks heartbroken for her.
In a confessional, Bronwyn reveals that the grandparents told Gwen that they wanted to meet her but only if she was ready to accept them as they were. Seems like a weird request from the granddaughter they abandoned even before she was born.
Gwen is not keen on meeting her grandparents after that but she does want to know more about her father, aside from the one picture she saw of him. Unfortunately, the only way to do that is to form a relationship with his parents. It’s a sad and difficult conundrum.
Mary Cosby calls Heather Gay out for being two-faced
Mary Cosby, Heather, Lisa, and Britani take an ATV to go ziplining. Mud is flung everywhere and Heather’s face has taken most of the brunt. After some hootin’ and hollerin’, they make it safely to the muddy ground where it’s the perfect location for an al fresco lunch. There’s a plastic table set up with a charcuterie board and red Solo cups. “What are we doing?” Mary mutters.
Heather gives Britani a unicorn to remind her that she’s a magical fairytale creature amid her breakup with Jared. Lisa asks her what happened and Britani tells her that she’s mad at her for playing a part in the breakup. “You caused a huge rift,” she says.
Lisa is surprised and Britani adds, “I don’t know why you’re so invested in my relationship.” Lisa answers, “Because he was manipulating you.”
Mary is over this conversation, as with all the “RHOSLC” fans. Heather asks Mary about the dance class she took with her daughter. They all want to know how that came to be but Mary is very evasive because she doesn’t want to say that she had gone with Angie.
After some prodding, Mary finally admits she was with Angie and asks Lisa why she’s so mad at her. “She insinuated I’m a bad mom,” Lisa answers. Mary wants Lisa to talk to Angie about her feelings but then Heather jumps in.
“It feels like you champion Lisa,” Mary tells her, to which Heather agrees. Mary points out that she has known Angie since they were in high school but now she has flipped over to Lisa’s side.
“That’s kind of two-faced, Heather. I feel like you leave a trail of lies,” Mary tells her. She brings up Heather’s scandalous black eye from “RHOSLC” Season 4 and how she was always about body positivity yet is now on Ozempic.
Heather’s mouth drops open and the most tragic thing about this conversation is that nobody told her that she still has mud on her face.
