Summer House Season 8 Episode 2 Recap: House of Cards

Comments Off on Summer House Season 8 Episode 2 Recap: House of Cards

Everyone was getting along in the first episode of “Summer House” Season 8, particularly because Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke weren’t in the Hamptons yet, as they were hobnobbing at The White House for the Fourth of July.

In Episode 2, Amanda Batula is still moaning about her hubby Kyle Cooke to Paige DeSorbo and Ciara Miller. It’s because Paige ratted out Kyle, who had previously told her all his worries concerning Amanda.

“He was like, ‘I’m scared to get a house. I’m scared to have kids. Like, I’m scared a lot of s**t is gonna be on me,'” Paige reveals.

“Then go be single. Like, what do you want?” Amanda asks. In a confessional, she says, “I think Kyle’s projecting because I was literally born to have children. Like, all I’ve ever wanted was to have a family and have kids.”

She continues, “But the business needs to be in a place where he’s able to take a step back and like, be a part of his kids’ lives. So Kyle’s scared out of his damn mind and he’s like, ‘Oh, Amanda’s not ready for it, not. me. I’m cool.'”

The Summer House cast celebrates America’s birthday

The Fourth of July party rages on and more extras friends show up. For some reason, Ciara knew that West Wilson had Black friends. She seems to like that fact.

Gabby Prescod lets out a loud burp, which causes Danielle Olivera to say that’s why she’s single.

Ciara goes on the mechanical shark and West doesn’t look mad about it. After 22 seconds, Ciara falls off. Not bad for someone who stays in bed all day.

West goes next and he brags about growing up riding horses so this should be easy peasy. Except he falls off after two seconds. He asks Ciara if she used one or two hands and she tells him one. “Don’t lie,” he says.

Danielle is getting her groove back and talking to guys. She’s always happiest when she’s flirting. Kyle and Jesse Solomon pee in the backyard and cross streams and then the shot flips to sausages cooking on the grill. You gotta love good editing.

Jesse Solomon has a crush

Jesse Solomon admits to Kyle that he’s digging Paige. “I’m a killer. Like, I get with girls. Not like I’d steal your girl but like, if there’s a cute girl, I’m gonna go after her,” he says in a confessional. Uh-oh, Craig Conover better watch out!

10 hours later, Amanda is still b****ing about Kyle to Ciara and Paige. “Kyle’s so f***ing annoying. He just says stupid sh*t like that. When I do everything else for you. ‘Amanda, where are my chargers? Amanda, where’s my bag? Amanda, where is my underwear?'” If you’re in your 40s and you don’t know where your underwear is, either you need more underwear or you need to keep track of where they are.

“I love him but stop complaining,” Amanda complains. The other girls validate her feelings because they get how Kyle is.

Ciara tries to heat up some food and mistakes the oven for a microwave because she doesn’t do any household chores. All the other guests have left but the group parties on until it’s finally night-night. Kyle stays up talking to his giant banana stuffy.

Back in the city…

The next morning, Amanda is still in a foul mood. Kyle tries to talk to her but she shuts him down. She tells him she wants to go home and if he’s not ready to leave when she is, she’ll go in someone else’s car. “I can’t do it anymore,” she cries to Paige.

Gabby reflects on how she was nervous coming into the house without Lindsay and Carl but adds that she had a great time with everyone. “But now … I’m thinking like, we’re all getting along really well. If we add Lindsay and Carl to the mix, what’s gonna happen now?”

In the city, Lindsay and Carl chat after he plays basketball with other tall people. They talk about the wedding and she hopes that she’ll be pregnant the following year. “So I feel like this is like, the perfect summer,” she inaccurately predicts.

Kyle and Amanda go on a date. He apologizes to her and she tells him it makes her sad when he complains to others about her. He then proceeds to complain directly to her. “You procrastinate a lot and I’m like, you know, it’s only gonna get worse. Like, you’re gonna feel overwhelmed with kids.”

“Taking care of a living thing, whether it’s the dogs or our future children, is not something that I’m gonna like, procrastinate or put off,” she tells him. They come to a resolution to communicate better and Kymanda are back on track, for now.

Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke arrive at the Hamptons house

Back at the Hamptons, Danielle is nervous about Lindsay and Carl coming. They finally arrive and everyone hugs awkwardly. “I’m hoping for not a lot of conflict because Carl does not like conflict,” Lindsay says in a confessional.

West and Jesse Solomon arrive together. He and Carl, who must have been informed of his height, compare how tall they are and they’re pretty even. How come no one calls Carl, Carl Radke?

West is nice and offers Lindsay the room that he’s been staying in but asks if he can take his fan with him. She tells him that the room is the hottest in the house and he says, “You go up there. You tell me if you like the temp.” She snarkily replies, “I mean, I know the house. I’ve been here for many years.”

Lindsay declares that she needs a room with a bathroom and Carl looks nervous. They end up taking West’s room. She doesn’t look happy but tells Carl, “Good vibes,” when it’s clear she’s sending bad vibes. Poor West is literally stuck between them.

Jesse Solomon shares that he had cancer

At dinner, Paige proposes a game where they all say something that the others wouldn’t know about them. West reveals that he’s been to all 50 states, which is so riveting that Paige almost spits out her drink.

On a more Solomon note, Jesse reveals that he’s had cancer twice, much to everyone’s shock. “I’m hoping to be five years cancer-free in August,” he tells everyone. He shares that he had testicular cancer and had surgery to remove one.

“It spread to my stomach, chemo, the whole thing,” Jesse Solomon says. “My checkup is mid-August so hopefully we’ll all be together.”

In another funny West moment, he tells Ciara, “Imagine if he went, and then I went? He tells that story and I’m like, ‘I’ve been to all the, uh, all the states.'” She laughs uproariously because he is pretty funny.

Lindsay Hubbard accuses Carl Radke of not being sober

The group goes out and when Lindsay comes home with Gabby, she is not happy. In separate confessionals, Carl and Lindsay explain what happened on the way to the club. It turns out that Lindsay ended up in a car with all the boys and was nervous about her not bonding with the other girls. Carl tried to reassure her but from Lindsay’s perspective, he shut her down.

In his own confessional, Kyle states that Lindsay went from “Zero to one hundred.” The others agree that Lindsay is super wound up.

Amanda, who took notes from that night, tells the camera, “Lindsay was saying to me and Gabby, ‘He’s on something. He’s so mean to me. I can’t do this. I think he’s on something.”

At the house, Lindsay tells Gabby, “Something is going on with him. Because the way that he spoke to me tonight was like, very reminiscent of like, Carl on cocaine. I don’t know what happened with him but he was not sober tonight.”

Lindsay reads a text Carl sent her. “Happy to have the same conversation we had tonight tomorrow morning. Perhaps a good night’s sleep will allow us to listen to each other and have a convo about what your experience was and what mine was.”

She responds, “Let me know when you’re sober.” Carl writes, “I’m sober right now, Lindsay. You’re not, period.” She texts back, “Now sure. Before no. You were awful to me. You were so mean to me.”

Carl comes home in his white skinny jeans. “It’s beyond hurtful, it’s f***ed up. And that’s the person I’m supposed to marry?” he says in a confessional. “It just, it pains me deep down.”

“Making this accusation to someone who is sober is hurtful,” Amanda tells the camera. “But like, if that sober person is the person you are supposed to be marrying in a few months, that is the most f***ed up accusation you can make.”

The next morning, Lindsay offers Carl water but he doesn’t want it. They argue about him not wanting water right now. They start arguing about last night and have different accounts about what started it. “We’re gonna have the worst weekend ever,” Lindsay says. It seems they’re going to have the worst summer ever.
