Summer House Season 8 Episode 5 Recap: The Camptons

Comments Off on Summer House Season 8 Episode 5 Recap: The Camptons

After Lindsay Hubbard squeezes herself out of the gate in the last episode of “Summer House” Season 8 to go walk off her anger in the woods, Gabby Prescod informs the group that she’s AWOL. “Runaway bride, ooh!” Ciara Miller says, clearly unbothered. The rest of the gang doesn’t seem to care as well.

Carl Radke is in the backyard wearing a Gilligan hat and calling his mom. “We are gonna be camping in our backyard,” he tells her. “Is Lindsay up for camping,” Carl’s mom’s husband asks. “Um, I’m not sure,” Carl replies. “We’ve, uh, been in a little bit of a tough spot today a little bit. I think we both are feeling hurt by things that get said.”

Cut to Lindsay walking back to the house. “I almost got hit by a mail truck,” she tells Amanda Batula. This is the only comment that makes Ciara give Lindsay any notice.

Carl tells his mom that he and Lindsay fought last weekend, which spilled into this weekend. “I know relationships are gonna have their ups and downs, but I love Lindsay and I don’t wanna focus on fighting,” he tells the cameras. “Please, can we just have one fun night?”

Camping brought the Summer House gang together

The “Summer House” cast wants to have some fun, which includes Gabby drinking a shot out of Jesse Solomon’s concave chest. Danielle Olivera gives everyone a care package to get everyone prepared for camping. Everyone gets ready to rough it in the Hamptons wilderness, while Ciara just lays down on the couch.

Gabby asks Lindsay if she and Carl have talked since their fight. “I’m trying to enjoy what is left of my day here,” Lindsay responds. “I don’t want to continue talking about it either, but like, the energy that you guys are putting out is like, palpable,” Gabby replies.

Everyone gets dressed in camo and nature-colored clothing as if they’re going on safari in Africa. Don’t they know that pastels are the colors of the Hamptons? Danielle has divided the group into teams and they all fill their canteen bottles with libations.

They have a tent-pitching contest and Lindsay is thriving because she always wants to win. Ciara and Jesse Solomon lose. The cast goes inside to do shots and prepare dinner, which is basically cheating, camping-wise. At least the meat gets grilled outdoors.

Amanda suggests playing Spin the Bottle but with a twist. The group has to come up with a dare for her, which is to lick Kyle Cooke’s inner thigh. Amanda does so and they all howl like a bunch of 12-year-olds.

Jesse Solomon gets tasked to take off an item of clothing and he takes off his lumberjack shirt. Next, Ciara and West Wilson get dared to kiss which is tame compared to Kyle and Lindsay running around almost nude. Yay, fun!

Everyone except for Gabby, who goes upstairs, sleeps in their tent. Jesse Solomon, who had a Raya hookup, sneaks in around 3 a.m. What’s confusing is that he has Raya status.

It starts raining in the middle of the night and the camping group trickles inside.

Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke finally talk

The next morning, Lindsay and Carl are in better spirits after not fighting the night before. “I’m sorry that I got so frustrated and bringing a level that makes you uncomfortable at Cowfish,” Carl tells her. “I appreciate that. I just, I don’t know where it even got to that point,” she says.

“Like I said, I started realizing I’m being annoyed and frustrated. It’s probably because I’m tired, it’s probably because I just feel like I should go home instead and I felt like I did what I should have to communicate that,” he explains.

“We’re just like, missing each other … let’s just address it in couple’s therapy,” Lindsay tells him.

Jesse Solomon, Carl, West, and Ciara go to Soul Cycle, while the rest are lazy layabouts. They all talk about how fun camping was. “I’d love to see a weekend where Lindsay and Carl don’t get into a fight,” Jesse Solomon says.

He then asks Carl if Lindsay apologized for accusing him of being on drugs. “If she did, I don’t recall her saying that, but I don’t think she really understands how hurtful that can be,” Carl answers.

Ciara tells Carl that it’s not fair for Lindsay to question his sobriety. She reveals that her father was a raging alcoholic and that she hadn’t spoken to him in about a year.

In a rare moment, Ciara offers insight into her personal life. “Personally, growing up in an unstable emotional environment, I would really, really, really hate to bring my child into that exact same situation. And so, when I see how this relationship between Lindsay and Carl is playing out ultimately, and Lindsay wants babies tomorrow, I don’t feel like that’s a situation that you bring children into. It makes me uneasy,” she says in a confessional.

Ciara shares with the guys how much her parents fought until her mother divorced her father. “I know you love Lindsay but you can’t sacrifice yourself in order to bring out that potential in her. And I’m not saying that she’s a bad person right now, or I’m not saying that you guys shouldn’t get married.”

“But it’s like, you have to like, kind of acknowledge that this is what you’re going to be getting for the rest of your life if this is where you’re at right now,” Ciara concludes.

Paige DeSorbo is back in NYC

With absolutely no transition whatsoever, “Summer House” viewers see Paige DeSorbo in her New York City apartment with Craig Conover. She talks about needing a 2-bedroom apartment big enough for a king-sized bed, which is impossible in NYC unless you’re a Waldorf.

She calls a real estate agent and reveals that she’s paying $8,500 per month for her apartment, which can get you a mansion in South Carolina where Craig lives. “I’ll go up to $9,000,” Paige tells the agent, which can be feasible if she keeps up with her influencer deals.

Jesse Solomon and West meet up for a mani-pedi in NYC. West tells him that he and Ciara went on a date to the movies. West kisses and tells again and shares that Ciara invited him to her place for a “full sleepover.” However, he reveals that they didn’t get past first base. Womp womp.

They talk about Paige being back in the city and the fact that Craig is with her. “There is a small part of me that’s like I hope this guy is chill because he could take this the wrong way and just, like, try to beef with me … If he was like, going to be weird about it, like, I would have to be weird back,” Jesse Solomon says.

Back at the Hamptons

Paige, Craig, Ciara, and West are the first ones there. For some reason, Ciara’s first mission is to boil eggs. It turns out she’s making deviled eggs and country-fried steak like she’s in “Southern Charm.” They’re having a southern meal because it’s Ciara’s love language and apparently, she and Lindsay have finally bonded over something.

The girls grill Paige and Craig over their NYC apartment situation and Paige lets everyone know that she doesn’t expect her bf to pay for her bills, bills, bills.

Kyle and his trucker hat arrive. He and Craig talk about their respective relationships. Craig says, “I love Paige, but like, I’m almost becoming like, the best version of myself and so, if we work out, we work out, but if we don’t, it’s not the end of the world.”

Kyle looks shell-shocked. “Do you see a world in which you don’t end up with her?” he asks. “I mean, there’s always that chance, right? I mean, we do live in different places. Like, she lives in New York City. She loves New York. I love Charleston. I run a company out of Charleston. Like, it’s very probable.”

Gossip about Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke

Carl has decided to come a day late, apparently because he wants to break the Friday night fighting streak with Lindsay. Kyle tells the group, “I have been told by people that have been to their apartment that from the looks of it, it looks like they might be sleeping separately there too.”

“Dude, not sleeping together is not a good sign,” Craig says. “What I saw and what you guys have seen is like, deep-rooted challenges in their relationship. I’m worried for the guy,” Kyle shares.

While getting ready, Lindsay tells Paige and Amanda, “Carl’s not a very sexual person.” Paige says, “I feel like you’re a very sexual person, like, even in like conversation. Like, you’re like, flirty, you’re like, you’ll talk about sex … like, he’s more like reserved.”

“Yeah, very much so,” Lindsay confirms. She tells them that she and Carl only have sex every couple of weeks. “Lindsay, what the f***,” Paige says. Lindsay reveals that Carl doesn’t even initiate. Bruh!
